Testimonials

After careful consideration I approached SFIA as I was interested in school fee planning as a result of a change in circumstances when my son’s school burned  down in an accidental fire ……. I met my first financial advisor who spent time explaining options available to me and answering  my many questions.. I wanted to ensure my understanding of all aspects of financial planning were crystal clear. As a result of finding him easy to understand and diligent in exploring my attitude to risk management I went on to invest in a personal pension and ISA’s.

I have found him to be very professional, informative and patient taking time to make sure I explore all aspects of each financial decision I am making. My experience has been that both advisors have taken time to work with me to ensure the decisions I am making are right for my family. I have also worked with a mortgage broker from SFIA and I have also found her advice and area of expertise invaluable.

My experience of dealing with SFIA has been invaluable and has enabled me to be more financially aware and secure for the future. I feel confident when dealing with the team at SFIA and I believe that the advice they offer me is trustworthy and right for me. I really appreciate the difference that all three of them have made to me and my family. I find them approachable, non-judgemental and genuinely helpful. I have learned so much about all aspects of financial planning.

My first experience of SFIA was about 19 years ago when I asked for advice so that I could be certain that I could fund my son’s place at a private school. Over the years my husband and I have been advised about setting up private pensions, salary sacrifice in employment, supporting a child to purchase a house, dealing with inheritance tax, how to set up a savings account for our first grandchild and recently, ensuring adequate income in retirement. Therefore we have been supported through most of life’s financial changes.

I would describe our experience as helpful and secure. My financial adviser is concerned to make sure we understand what he is proposing and he listens to our preferences. We do not experience any pressure from him when decisions need to be made, as he is wiling to give us time to think things through.

At first I found it difficult to understand everything that was said. Experience has helped us understand better and we are more confident to ask for clarification when needed. I would recommend anyone considering an important financial decision to use his services.

When I started out as a freelance technical writer 15 ago and was looking for a financial adviser to help me organise my pension my accountant recommended SFIA (like many people I prefer ‘word of mouth’ recommendations).

The adviser was very helpful in describing – using layman’s terms – the various options and pension products available and scheduling yearly catch-up meetings in order to review pension performance/changes to the fund ect.

My original adviser has since retired, but the handover to my new adviser has been seamless. On the occasions where I’ve had any questions I’ve always received very prompt and detailed email responses.

I have known my advisor for 15 years as someone to rely on for solid information on personal financial issues and trust him implicitly. This is why I have approached him many times at SFIA, a company staffed by people at the top of their game. In an age of such uncertainties and worries about personal financial stability – my advisor and SFIA have offered me excellent, calm, realistic and to be honest – comforting advice. That’s worth gold right now.

He has advised me on movement / risk on my investments during the CoronaVirus crash – advice which has born out as very accurate and helpful. Advice which has helped me (as a relative novice) both understand the money markets but also act to protect my investment as far as possible. I would say my experience of dealing with SFIA has been very positive and reassuring – and as said above – reassurance is so very valued right now in these troubled times. To others unsure of who to turn to right now to protect investments/wealth – I would highly recommend the services of SFIA.

My husband and I decided to sponsor our grandson through private secondary school education. When he was enrolled at Bristol Grammar School we received a flier about SFIA school fees planning in their mailing. We contacted SFIA and arranged a meeting. We were very impressed with our initial meeting and with the further detailed financial planning advice that was given and decided to transfer our financial portfolios from our existing IFA to SFIA.

We have had the same advisor now for six years and have been very pleased with both her advice and diligence in our affairs. When my husband died recently she spent a lot of time explaining options and making necessary transfers of funds and investments as straightforward as possible. She was also able to offer my children advice about their inheritance and different options they might like to consider. I have also asked for further guidance for inheritance planning, which has been invaluable.

I have been able to recommend her to both family and friends alike without hesitation. We had been with our former financial adviser for many years so were cautious about changing, but quickly realised that transferring to SFIA was going to be to our advantage in both the short and long term, not just for school fees planning, but all our financial needs and have been very satisfied with the service provided.

I initially required advice on setting up a pension and needed someone with sound experience to explain the available options to me with a view to an effective and reliable investment. My advisor has provided helpful advice on investment opportunities, emphasizing the longer-term perspective and tailoring products to my specific needs and risk profile. She has suggested moving investments around where they could be more effective and keeping them in place where a longer-term return has better prospects there. My advisor is friendly, knowledgeable and provides me with essential advice given that my own understanding of investment opportunities and markets is limited. My only initial concern was that I wouldn’t understand what was being talked about but my advisor explains things in a way that is accessible and easily comprehensible.

I had allowed a long time to elapse since last being in contact with an advisor. My previous one has retired and I was contacted by SFIA who had taken over their clients. I found my advisor to be highly perceptive and intelligent at our introductory meeting. She weighed up my needs and lifestyle very thoroughly and efficiently and was constantly upbeat despite my having only quite modest means. She was right on target with ideas and showed an excellent understanding of my situation, allying this to an upbeat and friendly attitude which inspired confidence and assurance. It is early days in our professional relationship, but Gemma is already a very positive presence in my life.

We were looking for some independent advice and reached out to SFIA, principally in relation to school fees planning. The advice we have received has always been well considered and presented and there has never been any suggestion that we are experiencing any sort of “hard-sell”. My advisor has been extremely efficient and thorough and the relationship has developed into one of great trust. He is incredibly responsive and his advice is always properly tailored to our needs. I would not hesitate to recommend SFIA to others.

We have been customers of SFIA for over 10 years and it is fair to say that they have been instrumental in ensuring our financial stability and security. We first got in touch in order to balance the twin aspirations of owning our own home and paying for private education for our two children due to a nomadic military life. We approached SFIA having received a flyer from the children’s school in Fordingbridge. We have been absolutely delighted with the advice we have had over the years, specifically on school fees, mortgages, pension funds, and investments. Of note, we have a Private Banking facility but tend to use SFIA as our primary source of advice on financial matters. We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the services of SFIA and its advisers to potential clients as they have never let us down and have often produced ideas we had not previously considered, tailoring them for our circumstances as they have changed over the years. In closing, we would like to say that the two advisors we have worked with feel like cherished family friends now!

Following a comprehensive discussion with my financial adviser, which involved a careful explanation including projections, I decided to invest through SFIA. I have had the same financial adviser for a number of years and trust his advice. I always feel that I can ask any number of questions and can seek clarification when I forget a response. The advice this year was more demanding as we were sorting out my late husband’s funds after probate had been granted: it has been a long-involved process but my adviser was patient, kind and reassuring.

Ken has been very helpful and professional in dealing with my ISA and pension transfer. I felt at ease when dealing with Ken, he is patient, well-mannered and a pleasure to deal with. He keeps to his word; he does what he says he will do and follows up with a phone call or email to say the task has been carried out.

Overall, I am extremely happy with Ken and will be using him for any other financial matters that may arise in the future. Well done Ken, keep up the excellent work.

Neal and I just wanted to say thank you for all of your efforts with our mortgage over the past couple of months. We had notification of completion today and a cheque which was wonderful and we have already contacted the fireplace and window companies.

Thank you for patiently and flexibly working with us and being so understanding of the fact that our lives are so busy during the week.

Wishing you all the best for the immediate future.

“A consolidated school fees plan with a pension funded by my business provided instant access to funds, solving my cash-flow problems, while the accrued pension lump will enable me to pay the school fees and any outstanding mortgage at a suitable future date and spread payments over a longer period.

The investment plan recommended by the tax planning division will realise approximately £100,000 tax free profit by 2025 and the school fees pension plan described is very flexible.”

“We were paying school fees from our net income, with our main asset being our home with a value of £300,000. An interest only mortgage with an ISA investment to pay off the capital was selected as our best strategy, with a monthly investment of just under £500 projected to pay off our mortgage over 15 years, with flexibility to alter the time period and contribution at any time.

This flexible plan maximised our tax free interest and made school fees affordable, as well as assuring the continuity of private education for our children.”

“We did not think we had enough disposable income to fund our son’s education, as – despite his grandparents willingness to help – Our mortgage was to be repaid by endowments which were performing badly, and we also had substantial credit card and car loans.

We were advised to sell the endowment policies to repay loans to fund the first two years of school fees, with a repayment mortgage replacing the endowment mortgage and cheaper arrangements made to protect the mortgage as well as the school fees. Our monthly outgoings were significantly reduced, enabling the savings to be invested to pay for the five remaining school years and meaning the shortfall in our mortgage was addressed, even leaving us £60 per month better off!”

“Faced with the almost impossible task of financing public school fees for our two boys, we contacted SFIA. The level of service was frankly outstanding. Their adviser called at a time to suit us (8.00pm), took all our details and went away to come up with a finance plan. As a result we can not only afford the school fees but can keep our holidays too. Life for us will almost remain the same. Truly amazing. Our sincere thanks to all the team!”
